Female startups fight ‘tomato seller’ cliches for funds in africa

According to the The World Bank, “for every $1 invested in women, $25 goes to men in the African startup space.” The push to fund more women entrepreneurs has spawned a new breed of gender-inclusive funds in Africa.

At Samata, we recognize that talented women and gender-diverse teams make up half the founders in Africa but are being left out of capital deployment – that is an arbitrage opportunity for us. We find them, support them, and help them outperform their peers.

This story also features other formidable female entrepreneurs and investors including founder and chairman of IDF Capital; Polo Leteka, CEO of 2X Collaborative; Jessica Espinoza, founder and CEO of Lami; Jihan Abass, founder and CEO of YTHERA; Anna Njoroge, amongst others.

We are doing the work to make a difference alongside a powerful network of equally strong women.

Never underestimate the power of women working together to create change!
